Happy Canada Day Everyone! ๐Ÿโ  What a beautifu Happy Canada Day Everyone! ๐Ÿโ
What a beautiful country that we get to live in. โ
While I tried to get out to one of our local parks for a walk, the parking lots were full and I had to give up. But this makes me grateful that many people are out there appreciating the natural beauty our homeland has to offer. โ
โ
I also have the privilege to reflect on this day as the 2-year anniversary of the opening of my clinic. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€โš•๏ธโ
I am so blessed! It's been such an incredible journey so far, seeing patients improve and adapt, and working alongside them as lifelong health partners. It has truly been a humbling and gratifying experience that I'm honored to be able to do. It's a happy day indeed! ๐ŸŽ‰ โ

Spring Liver Support. โ˜€๏ธ Spring is upon us an Spring Liver Support. โ˜€๏ธ
Spring is upon us and it's an excellent time to enjoy our fresh local produce. ๐Ÿฅฌ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿฅ‘๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿฅ’๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿซ‘๐Ÿง„โ
โ
Here are 5 food groups that support our liver's ability to detoxify and function efficiently:โ
โ
1. Fruits: Apples, Grapes, Berries, Citrus Fruits ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ‹โ
These liver-friendly fruits increase antioxidant levels in your body and protect your liver from toxins. The fibers and pectin can help manage lipid levels and remove toxins from the digestive tract. Citrus fruits also have enzymes that help in liver detoxification.โ
โ
2. Cruciferous Vegetables: Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower ๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿฅ—โ
Glutathione plays a crucial role in detoxification and is a master antioxidant for protecting cells from oxidative stress. These vegetables carry the richest food sources of glutathione. Regular consumption can help reduce cellular damage, eliminate toxins, and enhance the immune system.โ
โ
3. Healthy fats: Olive Oil, Nuts, Fish ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฅœโ
Improve your liver enzyme levels as these healthy fats reduce inflammation and improve healthy cholesterol levels. These are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and glutathione. Studies show that low nut intake has actually been associated with a higher risk of developing fatty liver disease. โ
โ
4. Beverages: Coffee & Green Tea โ˜•๐Ÿตโ
In moderation, your liver is actually being protected by those morning cups of coffee or coffee breaks in the office. Coffee and green tea have antioxidant properties which have a positive influence on liver enzymes. The daily cups may actually be preventing liver disease and even liver cancer. โ
โ
5. Legumes: Beans & Soy ๐Ÿซ˜ โ
Legumes such as lentils, chickpeas, soybeans, and peas are nutritionally dense foods and an excellent source of protein. This helps lower blood sugar and triglycerides in individuals living with obesity, and may also lower your risk for fatty liver disease.โ

Is anyone else admiring the beautiful flowers that Is anyone else admiring the beautiful flowers that bloom during this season?โ  ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒบโ
I wanted to share some amazing facts about them. โ
โ
1. Flowers can help heal the common cold.โ  ๐Ÿคง โ
There are flowers such as echinacea that support our immune system by fighting off viruses and bacteria.โ  โ
โ
2. Flowers can help improve mood.โ  ๐Ÿ˜Š โ
Who doesn't love receiving flowers or simply admiring them in a garden or vase? They can help improve mood because they look nice and smell good โ€“ two factors that are scientifically proven to provide an emotional boost. Moreover, an improved mood often leads to improved health; its no wonder people often take flowers or plants to hospital patients. โ ๐Ÿ’โ
โ
3. Flowers may improve memory.โ  ๐Ÿ’ญ โ
Plants and flowers such as rosemary have essential oils that significantly enhance the quality of memory and increase mental alertness. It's not a bad idea to add a few drops of rosemary for a boost of mental energy.โ
โ
4. Flowers aid relaxation.โ  ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™€๏ธ โ
The act of tending to flowers and plants can be relaxing, and gardening can specifically be a healthy way to work through stress or frustration. Also, the scent of flowers, such as lavender, is known to aid relaxation and sleep.โ
โ
5. Flowers increase energy.โ  ๐Ÿ’ช โ
I use these in my office for improved feng shui. Place live plants or fresh flowers in a working space and enjoy the view and benefits of increased mental energy.โ

Sakura, these are one of my favorite flowers! ๐Ÿ’ฎ Sakura, these are one of my favorite flowers! ๐Ÿ’ฎ๐ŸŒธ

As symbols for spring, these graceful pale pink or white flowers visit us for a breathtaking two weeks. Seen as the blooming jewels of Vancouver, they provide us with a strong sense of appreciation and joy for our community.โ
โ
In Japan, cherry blossoms are traditionally served in teas for their fragrance and sometimes in foods for their appealing color.โ  ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’•
These flowers can more impressively be prepared in plum vinegar,โ  giving it superoxide scavenging activity, mainly from caffeic acid.โ
Simply put, this flowery drink has even greater antioxidant activity than red wine!โ  ๐Ÿท

Scheduled me time. A time where I can sit down by Scheduled me time. A time where I can sit down by myself and put away all of my distractions. I focus on what brings me peace and helps me to feel calm. Most of the time Iโ€™m praying and reflecting about things Iโ€™m grateful for and tasks Iโ€™m struggling with. Somehow, I come away feeling refreshed and I gain a fresh perspective on how to handle my challenges. These are a few of the many reasons why scheduled me-time is so important to me. Notice how I write โ€œscheduledโ€; despite how helpful these moments are, I need to force myself to do it. If youโ€™re a busy bee like me, itโ€™s so easy to push your self-care further and further back on your to-do list. Recently I needed the reminder to start having consistent me-time again, and I wanted to encourage you to do the same. Or if youโ€™re already doing this, keep it up, Iโ€™m so proud of you! #metime #selfcare #meditate #pray #reflect #gratitude #write #read #play #balance #groundingpractice #mentalhealth #reenergize #refreshed #friendlyreminder
Has anyone else's sense of hope been quite challen Has anyone else's sense of hope been quite challenged in these past months (or years)? A friend of mine reminded me to have faith; faith that everything will work out for good. While it is still hard to believe in that every day, doing my best to carry on my practice with that mindset has given me much more peace. I am thankful to see more unity, love, and support for one another in my own life, and I can only expect and have faith that we continue in that direction as a whole. We must be patient and continue to believe in good because it always seems impossible until it is done. โ

The truth behind this statement is what helps us t The truth behind this statement is what helps us to move forward through the pain, stress, anxiety, bitterness, and sorrow. If we didn't trust that there was hope and joy beyond the suffering then we abandon our role as humans. But we are resilient, we can endure suffering because we believe this to be true. That beyond the experience of hurt and visible aches is an invisible blessing. Think back to the feats that you've had in the past, the victory you have from coming out of those dark times. And while it may be hard to see now, something good will come out of this too. Because you are loved, and you are worth it.โ
